All recording packages include use of in-house instruments and backline at no extra charge. Higher rates may apply for flagship rooms with larger space or iconic consoles, while smaller project studios in the same facility may be more affordable. For elite projects, day rates (8–12 hours) in major cities range from $700–$800 per day for a premium studio room, which reflects top-tier quality in markets like LA or NYC. By comparison, mid-sized studios in cities like Chicago might charge around $65–$100/hour with an engineer included. We encourage clients to book block sessions for the best value, and we offer free pre-session consultations to plan your recording approach.
Mixing
After recording, our mixing engineers will finely balance and blend your tracks into a polished stereo master. This includes adjusting levels, panning, EQ, compression, and adding creative effects to bring your song to life. Professional mixing at high-end studios typically involves senior engineers and analog/digital hybrid workflows for superior sound. We accommodate both hourly mixing sessions and flat per-song mixing rates:
Hourly Mixing – For smaller projects or touch-ups, studios charge roughly $75–$125 per hour for mixing work. This is ideal if you need an engineer to mix as you collaborate in real-time or make incremental changes.
Per-Song Mixing – For full mixdowns of songs, flat rates are common. Mixing services average around $300–$500 per song in pro studios, which typically includes 1–2 revision rounds to fine-tune the mix. (Additional revisions may incur a small fee, e.g. $25 each beyond the included rounds.) Complex projects with many tracks or special formatting (stems, instrumental versions) may be quoted higher.
All mixing sessions are conducted by experienced mix engineers using calibrated studio monitors in an optimal acoustic control room. Clients receive the final mixes in industry-standard formats (WAV, MP3, etc.), and we welcome input during the mixing process to ensure the artist’s vision is realized. Our studio can also mix remote/online projects – just send us your tracks!
Mastering
Mastering is the final polish on your tracks, ensuring they translate well on all playback systems and meet industry loudness standards. Our mastering engineers apply subtle EQ, compression, stereo enhancement, and sequencing for your album or single. High-end studios offer dedicated mastering services, often billed per track:
Stereo Mastering – Typically $50–$150 per song for a professional mastering job, depending on the engineer’s caliber and the project’s complexity. For example, a mid-tier studio might charge around $75 per track, delivering the master in high-resolution formats (24-bit WAV, 320kbps MP3, etc.). Top mastering houses in NYC or LA may charge on the higher end (even ~$200+ for renowned engineers).
Attended Mastering Session – If you wish to be present (in-person or via live stream) and give input during mastering, some studios charge an hourly rate (often the same as their mixing rate, e.g. ~$100/hr) for attended sessions. This provides a hands-on experience to finalize the sound together with the engineer.
Every mastered track from our studio is optimized for its intended format — whether streaming, CD, or vinyl. We perform quality checks on multiple systems and can provide alternate masters (clean/radio edits, instrumental versions) as needed. Mastering only begins once you are satisfied with the mix; we even recommend a short break after mixing before mastering, to ensure fresh perspective.
Music Production & Songwriting
Beyond recording what's already written, we offer full music production services to help craft your songs from the ground up. This can include songwriting assistance, arranging, beat production, sound design, and providing session musicians. Our producer team can take a basic demo or concept and develop it into a release-ready track. Key features of this service:
Songwriting Collaboration: Work with experienced songwriters to refine lyrics and melody, or have original material written to suit your style. Studios often provide in-house or affiliated songwriters for hire at hourly rates (around $25–$75/hour).
Beat & Instrumental Production: For hip-hop, pop, or electronic music, our producers can create custom beats and instrumentals. This can be done on an hourly basis or per-project fee. Producers are available from about $25–$75/hour depending on their credentials and the project scope. Turnkey production of a full track (beat + arrangement) is usually quoted as a flat project rate based on complexity.
Session Musicians: Need a live drummer, guitarist, string section or other instrumentalists? We can hire top session musicians to play on your track. Rates generally start at ~$50–$100 per song per player (varying with the instrument and experience of the musician). We handle contracting the players and studio time for their recordings.
End-to-End Production Packages: For artists who want a song or an entire project produced from start to finish, we offer custom packages. These typically include pre-production planning, all recording and mixing, and the producer’s oversight throughout. Pricing is tailored to the project; for example, a single song full production might be a set fee (several hundred to a few thousand dollars) covering everything through mastering, whereas an EP/album deal would be negotiated at a package rate.
All production services are delivered with professional guidance to maintain your artistic voice. Whether you have just lyrics, a rough melody, or only an idea of a vibe, we’ll pair you with the right producer to bring your vision to life. Pre-production consultations are available to map out the creative direction (often at no charge or a nominal fee that is credited back when you book the service).
Consulting & Audio Coaching
Leverage our expertise with consultation services for musicians, producers, or even businesses needing audio guidance. This offering is highly flexible, covering topics such as project planning, home studio setup, live sound advice, or career development in music. Examples of consulting we provide:
Project Planning & Budget Consulting: Not sure how to tackle your album or next single? We’ll help create a recording and production game-plan that fits your budget and timeline. This ensures you make the most of your studio time and understand the steps from pre-production to release.
Technical Audio Consulting: Perfect for amateur recordists or bands who need advice on improving their sound. We can advise on gear upgrades, acoustics for your home studio, or optimizing your live rig. For instance, we regularly consult with artists to fine-tune their home studio setup or resolve technical audio issues.
Business and Institutional Consulting: We also consult for venues, houses of worship, and companies on their audio systems and setup. This could involve training staff on equipment, specifying a PA system, or integrating new audio technology into an installation.
Consulting sessions are typically billed at an hourly rate (around standard studio rates, e.g. $100/hour). For broader engagements (like a full-day on-site consult or ongoing project management), we can arrange a flat fee or retainer. Our goal is to provide expert audio advice or training wherever you need it – think of it as having a “producer on call” or an audio mentor to help navigate any sound-related challenge.
Educational Workshops & Training
We believe in empowering artists and aspiring engineers with knowledge. Our studio offers educational programs ranging from one-on-one lessons to multi-week courses, aligned with professional standards:
Private Lessons: Individual training in recording, mixing, or music production, taught by our engineers. Scheduling is flexible. For example, we offer a “Studio Explorations” one-on-one class at $125 per hour for personalized topics in audio engineering. These lessons let you dive deep into specific skills or equipment with an expert by your side.
Multi-Session Courses: For a more structured learning experience, we run periodic workshops. Common offerings include “Recording for Musicians,” “Intro to Audio Engineering,” or DAW-specific courses (Pro Tools, Ableton, etc.). These often run over several weeks. A typical beginner course might be 4 sessions long for around $500 total, covering studio fundamentals. Advanced courses (e.g. a comprehensive 16-hour recording bootcamp) are available as well (e.g. our 16-hour advanced course is ~$2,000). Group class sizes are kept small to ensure plenty of hands-on time.
Additionally, we host occasional masterclasses and clinics featuring guest producers, engineers, or artists. Topics can vary from advanced mixing techniques to music business advice. These special events may be ticketed separately. Educational offerings not only enrich the community but also help foster the next generation of talent. Whether you’re a hobbyist looking to improve or an aspiring pro, our training programs can be tailored to your level.
Innovative & AI-Enhanced Services
To stay on the cutting edge, we’ve integrated innovative technologies and AI-powered tools into our service lineup. These offerings set us apart and provide clients with new creative possibilities:
Immersive Audio (Dolby Atmos) Mixing: Experience your music in 3D audio. We offer Dolby Atmos mixing for clients who want their songs in an immersive format (ideal for Apple Music, Tidal HiFi, etc.). In an Atmos mix, individual instruments and elements are placed in a 360° sound field for a truly enveloping listen. High-end studios charge premium rates for Atmos work – our Dolby Atmos mixing starts around $300+ per track (depending on the complexity and deliverables). This includes a stereo downmix and consultation on distributing your Atmos masters.
AI-Assisted Mastering: For quick turnaround or budget-conscious projects, we provide an AI-powered mastering option. Using advanced algorithms (comparable to services like LANDR), we can generate a polished master in minutes. This automated service is very affordable (often ~$10–$20 per song), and while it may not equal the nuance of a human mastering engineer, it’s a great option for demos or instant previews. (You’ll have the chance to compare the AI master with a traditional master and choose what suits your release.)
“Creator Mode” – Real-Time Vocal FX: A unique offering at Studio Sonics, Creator Mode lets artists experiment with real-time AI vocal transformations during a session. Using cutting-edge plugins (e.g. Dreamtonics’ Vocoflex), you can sing or perform into the mic and hear your voice morphed into various characters or styles live. It’s like karaoke on steroids – you could emulate a choir of different voices, mimic certain vocal tones, or just explore creative effects instantly. This is fantastic for inspiration, creating parody/cover content, or just having fun during the creative process. Creator Mode is available in-studio and via our online platform; contact us for access details.
AI-Assisted Production Tools: Our studio embraces AI in music creation. We have AI-driven composition and mixing tools integrated into our workflow. For instance, we can employ machine learning plugins to suggest chord progressions or generate beats/melodies based on your input. We also use intelligent mixing assistants that help identify optimal rough mix settings, allowing our engineers to start from a great baseline. These tools do NOT replace our human expertise, but they can accelerate the process and spark creative ideas. We stay up-to-date with the latest AI music tech to give our clients every advantage in production.
By combining innovation with proven techniques, we offer a studio experience that is both state-of-the-art and aligned with industry standards. From classic analog gear to artificial intelligence, our services cover the full spectrum of modern music production. Feel free to reach out for more information or to schedule a session – our team is ready to help take your project to the next level with professional results and cutting-edge features.
